Austria may be known as the classical music capital of the world, but make no mistake, Austria's Cornerstone is here to rock. The band, comprised of Alina Peters (vocals, guitar), Michael Wachelhofer (bass, keyboards, vocals), Steve Wachelhofer (guitar, vocals) and Christoph Karas (drums, percussion) signed to ATOM Records in 2008 and that same year released their debut CD, Head Over Heels.
The band completed numerous tours of Europe and America upon release of their debut album. Cornerstone was able to complete a mixture of headlining club shows and sharing the stags with larger acts such as...
...The Animals, John Waite (Babys, Bad English), Iron Maiden's Dennis Stratton, Ted Poley from Danger, Danger and American singer/songwriter Jeffrey Gaines, to name a few. They also participated in the UK based Z Rock Festival in 2009.
Back in 2011, Cornerstone released their sophomore album Somewhere In America. Ravenheart Music had this to say about the disc, "This album offers 10 tracks of easy listening rock music in a style that would make many a Melodic Rock Fan very happy indeed. Certainly a worthy 9/10." One of the album's ballads, "Right or Wrong", was chosen by British Rock Realms Magazine as the "Ballad of the Year" (2012) after strong UK radio play throughout 2011. In 2013, Cornerstone released their version of "Smalltown Boy" (by Bronski Beat) in support of research and treatment of cystic fibrosis at the Nottingham City Hospital, under the "Room to Breathe" campaign.
