Manny Charlton
Live on Forever,
FOUNDING NAZARETH MEMBER, MANNY CHARLTON, PASSED AWAY
ON JULY 5, 2022, AT THE AGE OF 80. MANNY WAS A KIND SOUL AND
AN EXTREMELY TALENTED MUSICIAN, PRODUCER AND ENGINEER.
ATOM RECORDS WAS FORTUNATE TO WORK WITH MANNY ON HIS
FINAL TWO RELEASES, SOLO IN 2016 AND CRÈME DE LA CRÈME (A
BEST OF) IN 2018.

Spanish born Manny Charlton grew up in Dunfermline, Scotland where in 1968 he along with Dan MaCafferty, Pete Agnew and Darrell Sweet founded the iconic rock band Nazareth, who released their first album in 1971. That same year the band toured the world opening for Deep Purple. By 1973 Nazareth began headlining their own shows.
About
in 2016 Charlton RELEASED ON ATOM RECORDS A CD CALLED SOLO.
Solo is a diverse record, full of cool guitar tones and killer solos. Manny
produced the new record, as he had done for classic Nazareth releases Hair
Of The Dog and No Mean City. Hair Of The Dog ended up being Nazareth's
biggest selling title, exceeding over 2 million in worldwide sales and included
the hit single Love Hurts.
IN 2018, MANNY’S FINAL CD RELEASE WAS A SOLO CAREER
SPANNING COMPILATION CALLED CRÈME DE LA CRÈME (A BEST OF).
FEATURING SONGS FROM HIS ENTIRE SOLO OUTPUT, GOING BACK
TO 1999 AND INCLUDING A NEW 2018 VERSION OF FAMILY. MANNY
PICKED ALL THE SONGS ON THIS COLLECTION AND HE PROVIDED
TRACK BY TRACK COMMENTS IN THE CD BOOKLET.
MANNY STAYED VERY BUSY IN THE YEARS AFTER LEAVING
NAZARETH. CRÈME DE LA CRÈME IS A GREAT STARTING POINT FOR
ANY FAN OF MANNY (OR OF NAZARETH).
